Day 1 of E3 has come to a close and the amount of information pouring in is staggering to say the least. Late today, major gaming outlets Gamespot and IGN posted their first looks at the game as well as some crucial interviews with series co-creator and project lead Ed Boon.
From the trailer, there appears to be no glitches whatsoever as with previous recent ports of the game (e.g. in MK Shaolin Monks and in Midway Arcade Treasures) other than the fact that the characters appear to have no shadows in the Dead Pool.
Our friends over at TRMK have recently learned that a new patch has been released for Midway Arcade Treasures: Deluxe Edition! This patch, hot on the heels of the previous patch which fixed the music errors in the MAT2 games, actually fixes two problems present in every single previous version of Mortal Kombat II that was part of Arcade Treasures and Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks. The first problem it fixes is that Random Select now works at the Choose Your Fighter screen. Second, and likely more important, is that it is now possible to use Down+Start at the Portal stage to find and fight against the elusive hidden Lin Kuei, Smoke! From the knowledge base article:
Midway Games has issued a press release today announcing that the PC version of their classic arcade compilation, Midway Arcade Treasures: Deluxe Edition, has been officially released! From the press release:
Midway has released twelve new screenshots from their upcoming PC port of their collection of arcade classics, Midway Arcade Treasures: Deluxe Edition! Among these screenshots are two screenshots from the first Mortal Kombat; we have confirmed that MK1 is now included in Midway Arcade Treasures: Deluxe Edition!
Midway Games released last week eight new screenshots from the upcoming PC release of Midway Arcade Treasures: Deluxe Edition. The compilation will feature games from both Midway Arcade Treasures 2 and Midway Arcade Treasures 3. This is important to Mortal Kombat fans as it means that the arcade ports of Mortal Kombat 2 and Mortal Kombat 3 will be included. Although a screenshot of the original Mortal Kombat is shown below, our best guess is that it was released in error. Check out the screens below:
